Sapphire Balustrades Delivers Excellence at Imperial Wharf

Sapphire Balustrades has manufactured and installed Jasper balustrades for internal and external applications at Imperial Wharf, which delivers one of London’s most striking new residential and commercial developments in a prime location overlooking the River Thames. With Sapphire’s pathway of project support the project designer was able to create a number of customised solutions for different elements of Imperial Wharf. Balustrades for the nine-storey development range from structural glass and stainless steel balustrades for apartment balconies and interior staircases to a variety of coated steel solutions with custom features such as mesh infill panels and natural hardwood handrails.

Sapphire worked closely with Imperial Wharf’s main contractor, Ardmore Group, to satisfy the project’s exacting aesthetic and technical requirements. During the initial consultation Ardmore’s Design Manager was impressed by Sapphire’s industry credentials, which he says made the company a clear choice for the high profile project. “And they didn’t just look good on paper,” he comments. “Sapphire followed through and delivered a high quality product and service package excelling in style, safety, quality, and value.”

The apartment balconies at Imperial Wharf feature 1100mm balustrades from Sapphire’s Jasper flat baluster system with polished stainless steel tubular handrails. The balustrades’ clear toughened glass infill panels are combined with customised, single, flat balusters. In addition, Sapphire manufactured and installed opaque glass privacy screens between apartment terraces to complement the balcony balustrades. The aesthetic and light enhancing appeal of glass is continued inside Imperial Wharf with Sapphire’s Crystal balustrades for stunning curved staircases in the development’s luxurious apartments.

Sapphire’s smart and functional balustrades for Imperial Wharf’s escape stairway delivers a smart appearance through a hybrid of customised powder-coated vertical bar infill panels from the Opal baluster system with 50mm stainless steel tubular handrails, which are offset to provide smooth, continuous support. The front entrance combines Sapphire’s Natura hardwood handrails with Jasper balustrades. External steel balusters are finished in an attractive, hard-wearing Graphite Grey polyester powder coating to complement the building’s façade.

In conclusion, Nick Haughton, Marketing Manager at Sapphire Balustrades, says: “Providing a diverse range of internal and external balustrades for a large development like Imperial Wharf is well suited to Sapphire’s production and project support capabilities: it also demonstrates the flexibility of our systems to meet even the most demanding specifications and delivers the aesthetical style required.”
